Why we count 99 Mega Kodas, not 100
Community folklore says "the 100 Mega Kodas." Our count says 99. Because that disagrees with what everyone repeats, here is the complete audit trail rather than a bare claim.
The source
We pulled the metadata for every Koda (token ids 0–9999, no gaps, verified complete) directly
from Yuga's own metadata API — api.otherside.xyz/kodas/{id}, the same endpoint
the official ecosystem reads — on 2026-08-16, and re-verified our trait counts against an independent
public dataset, matching exactly on every one of the eight ability counts.
The classification rule
We do not infer Mega status from names, art, or rarity. Yuga's metadata carries an explicit "Mega" trait with the value "Yes" on Mega Kodas and no Mega trait at all on regulars. Counting tokens that carry that marker gives exactly 99. No token is ambiguous: the marker is either present or absent on every one of the 10,000.
Cross-checks
The 99 stand apart on every axis the metadata offers: all five of their numeric game stats read 13 (every weaponless regular reads 11, every weapon-carrying regular 12 — exactly 6,860 + 3,041 + 99 = 10,000), their Base Points occupy 3,250–5,220 while no regular exceeds 2,660, and every Mega Head is a 1-of-1 value no regular shares (Mega Cores nearly so: 98 distinct across the 99). A miscount would break all three patterns; none breaks.

Where "100" likely comes from
We can verify our own count; we can only conjecture about the folklore — but the id structure suggests an answer. The 99 Megas are a contiguous block, #9901 through #9999 (verified: no gaps, and #9900 is a regular). Anyone reasoning "the Megas are the last block of ids" would naturally round to 100 — but the block starts at 9901, not 9900, and ids run 0–9999, so the last hundred ids (9900–9999) contain 99 Megas and one regular. "100 Megas" is the round number the community has repeated since mint, and we have found no authoritative Yuga statement of the number to check it against. If an official source establishes a 100th Mega, we will update this page and say what changed — the data is regenerated from the API, so the claim is re-checkable at any time, by anyone, with no special access.
